The Department of National Service Scheme (NSS) at A.N. College, Patna plays a pivotal role in fostering social responsibility and community engagement among students. As one of the most active NSS units in Bihar, it follows the motto "Not Me, But You" to instill civic consciousness through various outreach programs. The unit organizes regular camps, awareness drives, and skill development initiatives addressing critical social issues like literacy, health hygiene, environmental conservation, and rural development. With over 200 dedicated student volunteers, the NSS cell collaborates with local administration, NGOs, and government agencies to implement impactful community service projects across Patna district.
The NSS department boasts dedicated infrastructure including a well-equipped program officer's office, volunteer meeting space, and storage for camp materials. It conducts annual 7-day special camps in adopted villages focusing on:
  • Swachh Bharat initiatives (sanitation drives, waste management)
  • Digital literacy programs for rural communities
  • Health awareness campaigns (first-aid training, anti-drug programs)
  • Inter College Cultural Competition 2024 (Debate).
Recognized by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the unit has received accolades for its flood relief operations, COVID-19 awareness work, and sustainable development projects.
